COP 22 – Getting to Zero Implementation of Paris Agreement for Net Zero Emissions Policy Brief

Nov 04, 2016 - 12:01am

In December last year, the world negotiated and adopted the historic Paris Agreement on climate change. For the first time, all countries – rich and poor, large and small – agreed to take universal action to limit global warming to 1.5-2°C, to achieve net zero emissions, and to increase resilience to the emerging impacts of climate change.

The first formal meeting of parties to the Paris Agreement will take place in Marrakech, Morocco from the 7th to the 14th of November.

This brief gives context to this meeting, outlines key issues that will need to addressed, and discusses the implications for Australia.
