There is broad political and scientific consensus that increases in global temperatures of 2°C above preindustrial levels would create unacceptably dangerous levels of climate change. However, current pledges in emission cuts from developed and developing countries risk putting the goal of avoiding 2°C permanently out of reach.
The Climate Institute has evaluated the pledged emission reductions and current and pledged actions of developed and developing countries to assess their adequacy in limiting warming to 2°C.
