In the lead-up to the Paris climate talks in November, countries are advancing their domestic climate and clean energy efforts and developing their post-2020 emission reduction targets.
All countries have agreed to share their initial post 2020 emissions reduction targets with the international community well ahead of the Paris climate talks at the end of the year. The EU, UK, Germany, US and China put forth their targets last year. Most recently in February indicative post-2020 emission reduction commitments were announced by Switzerland and Norway.
Australia's target offer is expected in the coming months.
During this process throughout 2015, The Climate Institute will regularly provide analysis behind the most recently announced post 2020 targets, with layout the implications for Australia. The first brief in this series was released today.
The Institute will also regularly update its
Global Climate Action Map
, an interactive tool that allows users to compare policies across countries.
